About this opportunity

Buckinghamshire New University is committed to supporting Asylum Seekers and providing them with opportunities to make the most of their new lives. We will be offering at least one scholarship per year.

Asylum seeker, I am outside of the UK

Additional notes about eligibility criteria

Eligibility: 

  1. Application Registration Card (ARC) or Letter from Home Office confirming your Asylum Seeker status (under-1951 UN Convention)
  2. Be ineligible to access funding from the Student Loan Company due to your immigration status.
  3. Not already hold an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification.
  4. You have a conditional or unconditional offer from Buckinghamshire New University.
  5. You must be getting enrolled onto a full-time undergraduate, postgraduate or foundation course in one of our campuses High Wycombe, Uxbridge or Aylesbury campuses.

Additional notes about support provided

The scholarship will cover:

  1. The cost of all course tuition fees.
  2. Maintenance allowance for the duration of the course paid on intervals through the duration of the course £10,000 per academic year.
  3. Accommodation for the duration of the course of study in University Halls of Residence
  4. Free gym membership.
  5. Access to BNU New Usage scheme

Please note:

  • This scholarship is only able to assist an individual and can not provide support for family members or friends.
  • You will need to inform the Home Office of withdrawing from Asylum Seeker support if you are offered and in receipt of this scholarship. If you don not you will be committing a fraudulent act which could lead to the lose of your status or further implications. You should check what effects withdrawing from Asylum Seeker support will have with the home office before accepting our Scholarship.
  • Students must inform the bursary team of any changes to their immigration status during their studies.

Applications will be considered in date order of having received a full application (must include all required evidence and forms) and is separate from any course applications.
