1-Year Fellowship Programme | Scholarship-Supported

Overview
Microuniversity is building a global network of micro-learning hubs that enable young people to build skills and deliver projects with real-world impact. The model brings together
micro-lectures, micro-courses, and workshops from universities, educators, artists, and industry professionals, combined with structured mentorship and project-based learning.
Students are supported by experienced professionals who guide them to apply what they learn, deliver meaningful projects, mentor others, and become changemakers within their
communities.

A core principle of Microuniversity is sustainability: learners are supported to progress into leadership, employment, or enterprise and, over time, to give back through skills, mentoring,
and financial contribution, helping to sustain future cohorts.

The Microuniversity Fellowship (1 Year)
The Fellowship offers a fully funded 1-year programme for high-potential young adults (18+) who may face barriers to traditional education pathways. It combines practical skill
development, academic recognition, creative practice, and mentorship through partnerships with Digital Camp and more.

Phase 1: Digital Camp (Summer Programme)
July -Sep 2026 | 50 hours

Fellows complete 50 hours of structured learning and project development over the summer, combining micro-courses, live workshops, and mentored challenges. Focus areas include:
• AI and digital literacy
• Critical thinking and problem-solving
• Creativity and project design
• Collaboration, communication, and leadership

By the end of Phase 1, Fellows have developed a strong skills foundation and an initial project or idea to take forward.

Conservation & Technology Camp in partnership with ZSL
July 13–17, 2026 | 30 hours in London
Fellows will take part in a five-day intensive introducing the use of technology in environmental and conservation contexts. Through practical workshops and team-based activities,
participants will explore how technology and AI tools can be applied to real-world sustainability challenges and begin shaping early project ideas. They will receive mentorship from
conservation and technology experts and work towards an internationally recognised Silver CREST (Creative Science & Technology) certification.

AI Impact & Leadership Lab
July 31st – August 2nd, 2026 | 20 hours in London and online
Fellows will also participate in a 3–day AI Impact & Leadership Lab, designed to support the development of agentic-AI projects. Through focused mentorship and rapid prototyping,
participants will apply their learning to refine and present solutions with potential for real-world impact and learn to lead in a world of agentic AI.

Phase 2: Open University – “Make Your Learning Count”
September 2026 – June 2027 | ~250 hours | 30 academic credits

Following successful completion of the Digital Camp Summer Programme, Fellows progress to a 30 week, 30-credit Open University module. This phase includes:
• Academic study and assessment delivered by the Open University
• Continued development of a project with impact with Digital Camp
• Professional mentorship and reflective learning with Digital Camp
Successful Fellows who complete and pass the module assessments will be awarded 30 Level 4 academic credits by The Open University.

Digital Passport & Lifelong Learning
All Fellows will receive a Digital Skills Passport — a verifiable digital record of their micro-credentials, education, skills, projects, and references. The Digital Skills Passport brings together learning across Microuniversity, Digital Camp, and university partners and is designed to encourage lifelong learning, skills-based recognition, and long-term progression.

Outcomes & Impact

By the end of the Fellowship, participants will leave with:
• A substantial project portfolio evidencing skills and impact
• Recognised Open University academic credit (if completed and passed)
• Mentor references and professional networks
• Opportunities to progress into employment, entrepreneurship, or further study
Scholarship Criteria & Governance

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of motivation, potential and need, with priority given to young adults who are:
• Not in Employment, Education or Training (NEET)
• From disadvantaged backgrounds in the UK
• Including refugees seeking asylum or those with disrupted educational access

Recipients are selected by a Microuniversity Scholarship Selection Committee, comprising Microuniversity leadership.
