Postgraduate Research Sanctuary Scholarship
About this opportunity
The University of Warwick was awarded University of Sanctuary status in 2017 and has since that time offered financial support to sanctuary seeking students, to enable them to pursue higher education.
We offer limited postgraduate research scholarships of:
-A full payment of academic fees.
-A maintenance stipend for 4 years (full-time) at the prevailing UKRI rate
(pro-rata for part-time PGRs).
-A one off research training and support grant of £5,000.
-The opportunity to study either full-time (100%) or part-time (60%), dependant on your visa status.
-Up to 40 days annual leave per year (pro-rata for part-time PGRs).
-The support to suspend studies temporarily if needed, including with paid short term, medical and parental leave options.
-Access to additional financial support for disabled PGRs.
-The opportunity to apply for additional financial support towards the cost of immigration to the UK.
-Personal and professional development opportunities designed to enhance your postgraduate research experience and outcomes.

Additional notes about eligibility criteria
In order to be eligible to apply for these scholarships, Applicants must:
– Have applied to study a full-time or part-time Postgraduate Research course at the University. There is often flexibility to negotiate your start date. AND
be of any nationality and hold one of the following statuses as granted by the UK government:
– Have sought asylum from the UK government (you are an asylum seeker) or were included as a dependent (spouse/child) on an application for asylum. Please note: Spouses/civil partners must have been the spouse/civil partner on the date on which the asylum application to the UK government was made. Children/step-children must have been aged under 18 on the date on which the asylum application to the UK government was made.
– Have received a decision on your claim for asylum and hold one of the following statuses from the UK government:
Refugee Status (as a result of your asylum claim)
Humanitarian Protection (as a result of your asylum claim)
Limited Leave to Remain or Discretionary Leave to Remain(as a result of your asylum claim)
Some other form of temporary status (as a result of your asylum claim)
OR Be supported by the Council for At-Risk Academics (CARA)
– Scholarships cannot be deferred to the next academic year.
