RefuAid’s Language: A Gateway Programme
RefuAid
About this opportunity
Access to structured, high-level English language classes and qualifications are limited, difficult to access and prohibitively expensive for those who have claimed asylum in the UK. Specific qualifications, such as IELTS and other language exams, are a prerequisite for higher education and certain professional requalification pathways, but preparation courses can cost anywhere between £250 – £500 per week.
In partnership with English UK and private language schools and universities across the UK, RefuAid offer up to 32 hours a week of structured, intensive English language support, focusing predominantly on IELTS and OET. Course duration is uncapped, so students can study as long as they need until they achieve their required level. Tuition is donated in-kind by the schools and RefuAid will cover the cost of exams, travel and course materials.
