About this opportunity
Swansea University is proud to present our Sanctuary Scholarship for 2026/27 applicants! At Swansea, we are committed to providing equal opportunities in Higher Education for people seeking Sanctuary in the UK and supporting them to achieve their ambitions through our dedicated scholarship opportunities.
The Scholarship offers three places for entry to an eligible Taught Master’s programme starting in September 2026. The Scholarship also includes:
– A full tuition fee bursary, to cover the FULL cost of a chosen Taught Master’s course fees.
– A choice of two bursary options: a living costs bursary £14,400, paid as a monthly stipend; or a study costs bursary of £4,250, paid in two instalments of £2,1250.
– Support to purchase equipment, such as a laptop.
*Please note that accommodation is not provided as part of the Scholarship. If successful, you will need to arrange accommodation.*
In addition to the support options listed above, successful Sanctuary Scholars will have access to the named contact through their studies, as well as access to University support services and Library services.

Asylum seeker, Humanitarian protection, Limited or Discretionary Leave to Remain, British National Overseas (BNO)
Additional notes about eligibility criteria
In order to be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be:
– Currently in the UK.
– Unable to access mainstream Student Finance funding in the UK.
– Have an Unconditional Offer of study from Swansea University for September 2026 entry on a Postgraduate Taught Master’s programme.
– Meet the minimum IELTS score associated with their offer, as well as all other conditions of their offer.
– If required, must agree to undertake a free, Swansea University-specific English Language test to determine your IELTS score as part of the application process.
– Have been assessed by Swansea University’s Admissions team as a person seeking asylum, and therefore classified as an international student.
– Have been assessed by Swansea University’s Compliance and Visa Advice Team as a person seeking asylum with the right to study in the UK.
– Have a UK bank account in your own name.
